Christ Chosen Church: Virginia Beach

Pastor Rodney Burns was born in Pascagoula Mississippi and moved to Newport News Virginia shortly after his 11th birthday. As a youth he was involved in many activities that contributed to the development of His Character; including the Cub Scouts, sports, Boys Club of America, Student Council Association, Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps and several choirs. He is a well-decorated veteran of the United States Air Force who attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and was awarded the Air Force Achievement and Air Force Accommodation Medals. Pastor Burns received his call to preach in early 1994 and shortly thereafter left the Air Force. He began employment with the US Postal Service where he is currently employed and has received numerous decorations, including a Model Employee of the Year Award. In response to God’s call to minister, Pastor Burns served as President of the St. Jude Christian Tabernacle Male Chorus, Sacramento California from Dec 1995 – Dec 1998. After relocating to Chesapeake Virginia, He founded Leaders Inspired for Transition (LIFT) an organization that provides support to transitioning leaders by offering encouragement, networking opportunities, featured leaders and training. He was licensed to minister at Calvary Revival Church Chesapeake whose Sr. Pastor is Bishop Carlton McLeod. Pastor Burns was ordained by the Calvary Alliance of Churches and Ministries whose Presiding Prelate is Bishop Courtney McBath. He launched Christ Chosen Church on April 24, 2011, and serves as its Founding Pastor. Christ Chosen Church is actively involved in mission’s efforts to include; an Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, a Mississippi Missions Trip, An Annual School supply drive, a winter coat, and blanket drive, An Annual Christmas Toy Drive, and much more.

Pastor Burns has received education and training in leadership development through the US Air Force Professional Military Education, the Calvary Leadership Institute, the Calvary Alliance of Churches and Ministries, the Bridge Network of Churches, and the Hampton University Ministers Conference Church Development and Leadership Academy. He also has more than 30 years of experience leading and working in two of the world’s largest organizations. He has served as a Certified trainer, a supervisor, a team lead, and in many other capacities.
