During this time of uncertainty and turmoil, there is financial assistance available to qualified senior Veterans and un-remarried surviving spouses through the Department of Veterans Affairs.
These benefits are to help with the cost of care either in the home, assisted living, group home, nursing home, memory care, or other type of care community.
We continue to assist families to determine Eligibility and complete applications. Maximum Benefit amounts for Veterans or Surviving Spouses, rated as needing “Aid and Attendance”, have increased to a Maximum Annual Rate:
Married Veterans – $27,180 a year Single Veterans – $22,932 a year Surviving Spouse – $14,736 a year 2 Vets Married to Each Other and Both qualifying for Aid and Attendance – $36,402 a year
All Benefits are Tax-Free.
Qualifications for the Non-Service Connected VA benefit for Veterans and the Surviving Spouse Death Pension include: (1)The Veteran’s Dates of Military Service, (2) Gross Income MINUS Recurring, Predictable Health and Medical Expenses, and (3) Net Worth (not counting, home, car, or personal possessions).
