Chesapeake Area Shelter Team is the community of faith providing Emergency Overnight Winter Shelter for the homeless in the city of Chesapeake, Virginia in church buildings each night during the dates listed below for 2019
EMERGENCY WINTER SHELTER PROGRAM FOR
HOMELESS MEN, WOMEN & FAMILIES
Dates Of Shelter Availability: Wednesday evening, November 20, 2019 – Wednesday morning, April 8, 2020
One nightly intake location:
7:00 pm – 1468 South Military Hwy, Chesapeake
(at We Care Resource Center— near car dealers AND Old Greenbrier Rd)
Bus departs at 7:15 pm
Guidelines set to ensure safety of guests & volunteers:
* Max 49 homeless guests accepted
with ID. Only 40 may ride the bus.
* Homeless with cars welcomed (must
meet nightly at the intake location)
* Should there be a lottery, women and
children get priority then Chesapeake
residents
* Carry-on bag must fit on your lap
* No alcohol, no drugs, no weapons
* No sex offenders, database checked
* Breathalyzer screening
* Wheelchair guests must be sufficiently
ambulatory to walk up and down the
bus steps. There must be room for a
foldable wheelchair to occupy floor
space in front of 2 vacant seats.
* Smoking is at the discretion of the host
church
* Dinner and breakfast served to
overnight guests
* No pets
CAST reserves the right to accept or reject a guest from
loading the bus or entering a host church location.
