Emanuel AME Church is in the business of helping individuals build faith, in addition to providing guidance to those in need. Attending church is important, however, finding a church home is essential for growing and strengthening the spirit. Henry Drummond, a writer and evangelist, once quoted “Strength of character may be learned at work, but beauty of character is learned at home”. Emanuel AME Church primary focuses are providing christian education and opportunities of active church and community involvement.
Visitors are always welcome to our historic church, located in the Olde Towne section of Portsmouth, VA. With God’s help, our worship service is designed to meet the needs of all people who enter the sanctuary. We hope that our songs of praise, the gospel message, and the spirit of love and fellowship, will be an awesome and uplifting experience, leaving you eager to return!!!
