About

Faithway Baptist Church held its first service on Sunday April 20, 1997 at the Greenbrier North YMCA in Chesapeake, Virginia.  The first service was the culmination of many months and years of prayer by our Pastor Horacio Hall.  In March of 1997,  Pastor Hall moved his family to the Tidewater area to  start a new local church. For exactly one month, his then  pregnant wife Gale, and son Avery canvassed the neighborhoods  in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake and passed out information about the new work to be started. On April 20, 1997, Faithway Baptist Church had its first service with fifteen people in attendance (including Bob & Liz Harris who are still faithful members today).  We met at the YMCA on Sunday mornings and in the Pastor’s home on Sunday and Wednesday evenings.  We had lots of interesting situations during those early years, (having the nursery and classrooms in the bedrooms).  By God’s grace FBC began to grow and minister to many for the next year while at the YMCA.

In August of 1998, we were able to acquire an office complex and moved all services to our new location (4310 Indian River Road). We grew there and our ministries further expanded.  Shortly thereafter, due to an unforeseen situation with the city, we were forced to move once again.  In March of 2000 we moved our services to Providence Baptist Church and shared their building until September of 2002. Prior to leaving Providence, the Lord opened yet another door in a facility located at 700 Oak Grove Road. FBC worshiped and gradually out grew the facility in early Spring 2006.  Faithway Baptist Church moved it’s services to 910 Oak Grove Road, in the building in which we are currently worshiping today.  We praise the Lord for allowing us to expand with each move and opening doors during tumultuous times. Over the years we have seen many people saved and baptized through the ministry here at Faithway.  We now have several ministries that are actively reaching many with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  God has been faithful in making a way, empowering His servant, His people and His church.  The vision placed in the heart of our Pastor, has shown the way to the lost, and direction for this local boady of Christ. Through much prayer and service we now see that the seed has been planted, watered, and is growing. Faithway Baptist Church, finding direction and purpose through faith.
