We are a church that is learning and living God’s word, while loving and leading God’s people.
First Lynnhaven Baptist Church was founded in 1871. The church was first located in a “Bush Tent” in the Little Neck section of Virginia Beach. Later the church was moved to Nickerson’s Corner. As the membership grew, the church was moved to its present site at 2744 Robert Jackson Drive.
Over the years, the church has had ten pastors, and is proud to be led currently by our pastor, Rev. Luther S. Allen III. Under Pastor Allen, the church has been blessed to experience technological growth, property acquisition, and site expansion, most notably the 2017 addition of a multi-purpose vestibule / reception area, and the renovation of the church sanctuary.
First Lynnhaven holds a rich history in the City of Virginia Beach, as many of its current and past members were instrumental in establishing the public education system for the city’s African-American citizens.
Even today, First Lynnhaven or “First Church” continues to stand as an “Outpost of Faith,” striving daily to make the Kingdom of God a reality in the overall community.
