High school or GED plus five (5) years’ experience in fields providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities associated with such positions as kennel manager, veterinary assistant, etc.; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Duties: | The City of Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center provides educational programs and humanely provides care, nourishment and a safe environment for the lost, unwanted, stray, abused and abandoned animals in our City. We are seeking an Animal Shelter Operations Supervisor who will join a team of dedicated shelter professionals to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Center.
The Animal Shelter Operations supervisor helps oversee programs like foster, volunteer, field trip, owner resources and events. This position supervises the activities of the staff in the humane treatment and care of animals housed at the shelter and in providing quality customer service to the citizens. The successful candidate must be committed to an adoption-friendly philosophy in which only those animals that are determined to be too ill or unsafe for the community are euthanized. Schedule: Hours are 0900-1730 daily with two days off (Sunday/Monday). These hours can change based on operational need. Traffic Violations: Any conviction of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, refusal to take blood or breath test, eluding police, racing, or leaving the scene of an accident within the last 5 years. Drugs : Any involvement in the sale of illegal drugs as an adult. Any illegal use or possession of any illegal drug, including but not limited to heroin, cocaine, hallucinogens or any derivative thereof (except marijuana) within the last five years. Illegal possession of anabolic steroids within the last 36 months. |
