The Storehouse is known in our community as a resource for food and assistance, and most importantly as a place of love and healing. Rodney and Aretha Hammonds have lead the Storehouse team in Norfolk, VA, for 27 years. Our mission is to demonstrate the love of God through meeting practical and spiritual needs of people within our community. Provision comes in the form of food, clothes, and personal hygiene/grooming products.
Each year we distribute Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets as well as Christmas toys/clothes to needy families. On a monthly basis, we hosts a free community lunch–the “Broken Bread Lunch”provides a hearty bowl of savory soup, a brief devotional and prayer sure to satisfy both natural and spiritual hunger. Of course the secret ingredient in the soup is LOVE!
It’s often said that giving a person a fish helps for one meal but teaching them to fish helps them feast for a lifetime. As wonderful as weekly, monthly, and seasonal blessings are, it is also the goal of the Storehouse to train and equip people to have their needs met daily.
